He appears in the 1911 census withhis wifr Sarah, no children, at 9 Viewfield, Kelty, Fife. BIOGRAPHY: Fought in France during the First World War in the Royal Engineers. His service number was 121627. BIOGRAPHY: Bought burial plot number 446 from Beath Parish Council on 29 October 1913 for the sum of £2. This was for his daughter Margaret who died on ?. He and his wife Sarah were subsequently intered there as well. BIOGRAPHY: Appears in a book detailing the service history of miners in the Aitken Colliery, Kelty. His entry reads: JAMES RENSHAW. 8 North Croall Place. AITKEN COLLIERY. James Renshaw, who was born on 13th November, 1877, entered the coal mining industry in the West of Scotland at the age of 14 and, when he came to Kelty and started work at Aitken Colliery in 1901, had already 10 years' coal mining experience to his credit. Like many men who entered the Company’s employment at Aitken Colliery, James has never wanted to change to any other colliery, and now, in his 45th year at the colliery, having relinquished underground work as a stripper, packer and developer only three years ago, he is at present employed on the picking tables. During war years. l9l4-l9l8. James served in France with the Royal Engineers. DEATH: Informant was his son William, 23 beechbank Crescent, Kelty. Both his parents are listed as deceased.
